Little did Mr. B know that his porn collection was a matter of national security…
Not an American, so some of the questions were coin tosses, but I got a 26. I guess it was all those tax cuts that I wanted, since I voted “liberally” on a lot of the social issues.
Some of the questions were a bit stupid though. False Dilemmas and all that.
AIDS vs Heart Disease/Cancer for example. All else being equal I think that diseases that kill off younger people should be given higher priority in research. But these things are not equal, cancer and heart disease are far more common and kill more people than AIDS and should IMO be given more research funding than AIDS. Although I could accept more for both.
I scored a 20. Is that OK for a democrat??
34, you commie bstrds…
I suppose my overall score, 27, is accurate… but what a stupid quiz.
Do I “trust” the Pentagon more than the Post Office??? To do WHAT??? I pay my bills through the mail all the time, so obviously I trust the Post Office… but in a shooting war, I’d rather send out Rambo than Mr. Beasley!
Do I trust the government to solve problems? I dunno- WHAT problems are we talking about? Obviously, we law and order types think the police can be VERY effective at controlling crime, given the right resources. And most local governments do a pretty solid job at basic (but important) things like sweeping the streets and running the buses/subways. Does that amount to “trusting” the government?
Do I trust unions more than businessmen? For Pete’s sake, I think BOTH groups are looking out for #1. Both are trying to earn more money for either their members or their companies. I trust both to do what seems to be in their own interests.
A pretty silly test, overall.
19 here, seems about right.
20… but count me among the people who land in the middle by having wild swings to the “left” and “right” rather than being there by actually being moderate.
I agree with those who have criticised some of the options presented in the questions. I particularly sympathize with Libertarian’s dilemma over the FBI and the IRS. I went with the latter, purely because they don’t generally issue guns to their agents, and fucking with them probably won’t get you killed.
I came out at a 7, sandwiched between Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton (now there’s a disturbing image…).
Scored an 11, though I think I should have gotten a 13.
No longer, comrade!
I scored a 4. Honestly, probably a little too conservative for me.
19
9 for me. That seems more liberal than I thought I was, but on reflection maybe it’s right.
I am not American so didn’t understand some of the questions. I scored 11
It’s also a bit silly in the fact that “which is more” type questions have a “both” option. But that’s obvious, so I am not going to mention it.
20. I laughed out loud at the FBI vs. IRS question too, Libertarian - not to mention the conundrum of the Pentagon vs. the Postal Service. Where were the “none of the above” options, anyway? I don’t think this test was designed with the libertarian in mind.
I scored 7, left of Hillary Clinton (who is, as we all know, a conservative) but right of Ted Kennedy.
The quiz is full of false dichotomies, but so are American politics and media.
It’s a nice little survey but because of my political beliefs it forced me to make a black or white decision. There are certain things I think the government MUST get out of.
The idea of who was a better president??? Ummm, well because of my political views I chose Reagan, not because I believed in his policies because his politics back then reflect more of what I believe today.
Sadly the option of opening up the court system to reflect non-violent crime, aka legalization of drugs was not there, or other such things. There are more things that can be done to reduce crime and frankly a person that is convicted of a drug crime that doesn’t involve violence seems more likely to remain in prison than a man that is abusive towards his wife…I know two people personally that have been convicted of both and the wife/child abuser got off pretty damn easy.
So while it’s a nice little quiz, it doesn’t really get to the depth that it should have regarding specific topics.
I scored a 29 BTW.
I scored an 11, which was lower than I expected. Today, anyway.
26, although I fancy myself a progressive libertarian…
I got a 10… much rather have my toenails ripped out, you see…
