Heh, you’d better avoid the dark alleys of my memory lane!
That’s what I recall. In Jr. High School in the early 70s the girls wore stockings that would frequently run. At some point maxi-skirts became the thing so I have no idea if they had anything on their legs. By High School the girls wore jeans mostly, the occasional skirt seemed to be worn with bare legs.
They were “sturdy.” That was the catchword for all children’s school clothes and shoes in the 70’s. The kids used words like “stiff” and “thick” and “itchy.” None of that mattered though. Fortunately they generally softened up after the first 200 washings.
In junior high I remember knee high socks with desert boots, fishnets, tights and pantyhose. After that, just pantyhose, and bare legs with sandals in the summer. I never have and never will like bare legs with pumps.
Gave me the shivers as soon as I saw who it was.
I raised the alarm back in post #17 but everyone kept giving him material for his spank bank.
Late 60s the girls were wearing a lot of fishnet stuff. Early in the 70s I remember a lot of girls wearing stockings of some kind that often had runs in them. Not long afterwards they mostly wore pants, usually hip hugger jeans and the like.
I was shuttled among various suburban Los Angeles public, private, and church campuses in K-6 (I was a bad boy) and wasn’t too concerned about girls’ legs. I managed to stick to one 7-9 junior high in the early 60s and don’t recall seeing girls’ knees except in gym. Then came a few high schools (following divorced parents) in the mid-60s where daring kids wore bell-bottom jeans. Short-shorts were not on the scene. Ball caps with beer logos were banned. School was not for play - go to the beach for that.
Yep. That’s what I wore. With brown suede go-go boots with fringe. Yikes.
Hmm, I wore jeans with knee-high argyle socks.
Yeah, this thread is creepy.
ETA: Not every poster in it is being creepy. But the original question isn’t a general one about what people wore in school at the time, but all too specifically about what young girls had on their legs and what was visible when they wore short skirts.
If it helps, my posts were written from the nostalgic POV of the horny 16-year-old I was in 1977…NOT a 59-year-old geezer where I happen to find myself today.
In the 70s I remember my brother’s friend saying church was good because he got to see girl’s legs.
And a girl at school never wore pants so I asked someone and they told me it was because she was Mormon.
Huh, one of my older threads has been revived.
The OP was written from my perspective in junior high. A couple years before I started dating. A special time in my life that I still recall fondly. It was never intended to be anything more than nostalgia and remembering our sometimes questionable fashion choices in school.
My fortieth high school reunion was in 2018. My school year memories are very much on my mind. Life was so much more innocent and simple then. Passing a test was my biggest worry.
