Locally, in Middle Tennessee, the shelves are bare of canned pears, both lite & heavy syrup varieties.
Anybody else seeing bare shelves?

Who the fuck buys canned pears? And why?
People who want to eat them, or possibly supervillians planning some pear-based doomsday device.
And because of the tremendous pain in the butt that is waiting for fifteen-second window in which pears are ripe, but not overripe.
No shortage here - I still have some home-canned ones in my pantry from last year.
I noticed that yesterday when I did my grocery shopping - no pears! I love me my canned pears. I didn’t think much of it, just made a note to pick them up next week - but if you’re saying they’re out in your area too, oh noes!
Oh yes, I agree with this! I have a pear tree in my yard that grows beautiful little miniature pears, and of the 11 years I’ve lived here, I have only ONCE managed to pick those pears in time. Fifteen seconds sounds about right for the picking window.
Note: I have NO idea what kind of pear tree it is- came with the house/yard. They are tiny pears - maybe a third the size of a pear in the grocery store fresh fruit aisle.
Menace. YouTube coyotes + pears
No shortage here. But they only have “halves,” not “slices.”
There were plenty (both halves and slices) when I went to the commissary Thursday afternoon. I can look tomorrow to see if the situation has changed…
Moving from IMHO to Cafe Society.
I buy and eat canned pears with some frequency- we ran out for a few days, then got new labels on the incoming cans. And new prices.
Also the new peaches don’t have pull tops on the cans.
[del]Is there a partridge[/del]…sorry, Xmas is coming, and I got carried away…
Seckel pears, I’d guess. Do they look like this?
I dice canned fruit to mix with applesauce or yogurt. It can also be a baking ingredient.
Canned peaches are where it’s at. Just don’t fuck around with any unauthorized cinnamon.
People under a certain type of pressure?
Haven’t noticed, but we canned our own from the tree out front. Nice to have in winter, when there aren’t any fresh to be had.
People who would consume all the fresh pears in a single day, no matter how many there were, but can limit themselves to a one-can daily ration.
