Well I guess I’m confused. Why would you study evolution and religion in a history class? And shouldn’t you be taught only one version of history – the correct one? I realize certain elements of “spin” can be present when teaching history, but there should be very little dispute over the basic historical facts.
We studied religion in History because it provides a lot of the motivation for many historical events. You need to understand a civilization’s religion to understand the behavior of the citizens. It was approached in a secular manner. Most historical “facts”,especially about pre-writing societies, are just educated guesses.
Evolution was taught because many people see it as a part of the history of the world.
