Should I buy a used pool table?

Well, I’ve got 48 years of play versus your 20 (lets not do the math on hours though) but I’m sure you would kick my butt. I hold my own and then some in most situations I find myself in. I still say from experience with both, maintaining a pool table is orders of magnitude easier than a swimming pool.

To the OP… if the concern is if you will use it or not, that is entirely up to you. I would set a goal of X hours Y times per week, and keep track if you do it or not. Once you make it a routine part of your life you will use it. I’ll admit though that most people won’t do this.

I don’t have any experience with buying used. We have a really good shop here that occasionally has used tables and if I were to buy used I would go there because they would know the details about the slate, rubber, etc. They will also deliver, set up, and level. Since it will be disassembled I would recommend going ahead and getting new felt/cloth while you are at it. You can pick the quality and color to match your room. We did that when we redid our basement recently and it is amazing how much better it makes the room look.

Probably not close to you but these people are great, and knowing them I’m sure they would probably have no problem taking your call and giving you some tips.

Good luck on whatever you decide.

it really depends on the person. My friend’s family got a pool and they were the most popular kids on the block. Other friends had a ping pong table and played daily. It just really depends on how much you and your family /friends like it.
