When I got home today I noticed a piece of mail addressed to my neighbor was mistakenly delivered to me. I noticed he was in his garage, so I walked over and handed it to him, and then he informed me that he had COVID. I guess I shouldn’t have just walked up to him like that. But anyway, I was only close to him for a few seconds, and I am fully vaccinated, so I’m thinking I’m probably ok. But would it be best to get tested just in case? Particularly to avoid potentially spreading it to others.
I would either get tested or isolate. Testing would be faster if I’m fine, so I’d probably go that route, isolating until it’s been a few days so the test would work.
It does not appear that you meet the criteria for Close Contact as stated by the CDC.
Yep. That wasn’t long enough to be close contact. I’m guessing you are completely fine. Just monitor for any symptoms. Around these parts, Covid tests are getting very hard to get so I would leave them to those that had more exposure or are symptomatic.
As a physician busy with covid patients, I confirm Telemark and wguy123’s info. You did not have a significant exposure.
I am going to get a Covid test tomorrow. My fever is now almost 101 and chills. I was vaccinated with the one shot J& J back in April.
I work in the grocery store and the work has been at a back-breaking volume since the UVA students returned a month ago. Probably about 2/3 of customers wear a mask. We are all working many hours of overtime.
I felt fine Friday but Saturday I had strong face/tooth pain which I took to be from my diagnosed trigeminal neuralgia. Not corona I thought. But annoying. It has been almost four years since I had an attack and what little medicine (Gabopentin) I had was from 2018. I had hoped the TG was in remission. Still I took capsules but they make me feel feel dizzy.
Today I have a fever and chills. However I can taste things just fine. I hope I can drive myself to the Doctor Monday. My wife had knee surgery two weeks ago and cannot help.
Today I called out from work for only the third time in sixteen years. I feel lousy. No loss of taste but cough, fever and sore throat. My vaccinated wife is going around on crutches and can help me a little.
The waiting for the weekend to be over is not pleasant.
Could Covid19 have caused a bout of my trigem to return?
First, I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve had trigeminal neuralgia. I had a weekend of trigeminal nerve pain triggered by a dental abscess, and it was by far the worst pain I ever experienced.
I don’t have any information about whether it could be connected to your present illness, but I have a question about that. Do you know if the TG can be set off by stress? You described stressful work, plus a new infection (whether it’s covid or not). If the TG can be set off by stress, then it seems like it could be related in that way.
Finally, it certainly sounds like you are ill. Just remember, not everything is covid. One of my kids got sick recently, and I was convinced it was covid. We had to wait a day to get her tested, and I was stressing over us all having to quarantine, etc. She got tested, and nope, just a respiratory virus of some other kind, plus stomach upset. We all wound up getting the cold, but it was no big deal.
So, sorry you’re feeling bad, I hope you feel better soon, and I hope you get tested quickly and it’s negative. Good luck!
Thx. My neurolgist said stress could be a trigger.
I think however while I have been very busy this past month, my stress levels have not been especially extra high in my life.
Quick test negative. Rah.
Hooray!
