I have an ancient (by today’s standards) Roku 2 and although it seems to work okay, I have a sense that I might do a little better with a newer model–occasionally the picture isn’t great, and the menus react a little slowly.
Any thoughts on this? Do I want another box or a stick?
Also open to suggestions for other streaming boxes. I haven’t felt the need to get, for example, Apple TV–but maybe I’d like it if I did.
Personally, I much prefer the Roku 2 interface with Netflix than the new Rokus. On my new one, when you’re on the Netflix home screen, Preview autoplays on whatever thumbnail the cursor is on, and the audio plays. Loudly. And the thumbnails are much smaller and harder to make out from across the room. The newer ones do have other features I like though, such as being able to choose different profiles, which my Roku 2 can’t do.
FWIW I just (as in less than 2 hours ago) got a Roku Premier. ~$40, Does 4K and HDR (though I don’t currently have any devices that handle that, but it was $10 more than the base model)
No clue on the interface as I haven’t hooked it up yet. Will try tonight.
I like the autoplay feature on netflix because it lets you watch the trailer.
I also really like the voice activation ability of modern rokus. If you want to watch something you just say the name rather than find the app and scroll through until you find what you want.
However I really dislike the hulu interface on the modern roku stick.
