Should I go see Deep Purple at $100 a ticket?

Perhaps, Someday at Christmas, or on Christmas Eve, you’ll have recovered from the experience enough to tell me who it is, Under the Mistletoe, Baby. :smiley:

//too much time, etc. . .

I saw Deep Purple back in the 80s (Perfect Stranger maybe?) with Ritchie Blackmore. Glad I did. Great show. But in my not so humble opinion Steve Morse is the best guitar player in history. Saw him from about ten feet away at the Stone Pony. I prefer his work with The Dregs or with his solo projects but I would never turn down a chance to see him play. Certainly not for $100.

Steve is a guitar god, but he ever play “Ode To Joy” backed by an animated laser projection of Beethoven? :stuck_out_tongue:

Saw them on that tour also. It was worth the $15. Would never pay 100 bucks though to see some geriatric rockers relive the glory days.

YOUTUBE is great for stuff like this since eveybody is bootlegging live performances these days. Check out how they look and sound from some recent concert footage and decide if it’s worth it. I’ve skipped many a concert by once popular bands after seeing some samples of their current sets.

Well, I’m going.

Got two tickets for Christmas from my wife. The money is coming from the same household pot, so it doesn’t technically matter that she bought them.

Anyway, I looked at some recent activity on Youtube and am ambivalent about this: good music; mediocre vocals.

But it will be a much, much needed “guys night out” and I’ll probably just cab it back to my friend’s place and crash there.

Next update February 9th.

I hope you have a great time, Leaffan!

A++ Would LOL again.

So, the concert was last night.

What a blast! Highway Star to open; Black Knight to close, and a lot of classic tunes in between.

Gillan’s not 25 years old anymore, and the high notes were a stretch, but he sounded fine.

Classic rock. Lots of beer. Fun times.
