Should I keep watching Peaky Blinders? PLEASE watch out for spoilers

So I’m through episode 5 of season 1. I like it pretty well. But I feel like it’s becoming somewhat silly and soap-opera, and the anachronisms are starting to grate on me.

What say you all–should I finish this season and keep on with the next, or cut bait?

I thought the end of season 2 was fantastic- it was up there with some of the best last three minutes of an episode ever. I’d stick through it for that though admittedly I haven’t finished season 3 yet.

You gotta see all there is to see of Tom Hardy, which means you must watch seasons 2 and 3. Sorry.

Dude. Stick with it. Trust me.

Not sure if there’s another Peaky Blinders thread out there; I watched season 4 over the long weekend and YOWZA, If the OP has given up, I recommend tuning into this one regardless. It doesn’t matter too much if you don’t know all the details of the last seasons, just watching Adrien Brody is enough to recommend it.

Hopefully others are still watching. I have notes! And questions!

Specifically, was this the last season? The ending had a feeling of finality but at the same time, I’m embarrassed to admit that I may not have entirely understood it :o

I’ve watched the first four seasons (with the exception of the last half of the very last Season 4 episode - nodded off last night) and it’s been worthwhile. There have been some bumps in the road

most notably, as Ava notices, no woman can resist Tommy’s charms

but overall it makes for a good bit of viewing. Good characters, good music, sex and violence, sentimentality, all the elements of a good-not-great show. I won’t speak to the depiction of the Romanichal life. It’s good to see some attention paid to the Traveller culture, but not if it’s perpetuating harmful stereotypes. That’s for someone else to look at, though.

Seasons 4 and 5 were commissioned at the same time.

Thanks, Baron G. I found that out after I posted my stupid question:smack:

So, I guess that means that season 5 will take us into Thomas’s world as an MP? I’m not sure how that’s going to go. Also, I think I missed something in regard to commie, union organizer Jessie Eden. Did Tommy seduce her into giving up the names of the party leaders? She seems too smart for that. On the other hand, TS was a socialist / sympathizer before the war; are we to assume that is now part of his agenda?
When Tommy sends Michael to New York, it’s portrayed as if he’s being exiled / punished. Was that just to throw us viewers off (I fell for it) or the whole community?

Sorry to be so dense. The last couple of eps seemed kind of rushed or smooshed together or something and I realize it’s probably cerebral flatulence on my part but after 4 1/2 seasons, all of a sudden I wasn’t sure what was going on

WOOKINPANUB,

I feel like Michael was sent to New York to keep him safe since he had already been shot, and didn’t they expand their gin business to NY too? Could also be to oversee that. Correct me if I’m wrong.

I binge-watched Season 4 over the holidays and really enjoyed it. There’s a Season 5 in IMDB but no dates yet.

That poor dog when Tommy killed Alfie in “The Duel”. My heart broke for him.
