I grew up on that show and it don’t affected my intellectulence one wit. 
Am I the only one completely and totally addicted to Undressed on MTV?

War and Peace? War and Peace?!? It’s a good book, yeah, but go grab yourself a copy of Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings” if you want a good story to ween off of bad soaps…

I myself don’t watch Passions, but I happen to know that there are quite a few straight guys who watch that and other soaps. In fact, I know of one mb that has a thread for the male viewers.
btw, Josh Ryan Evans is neither a child nor a doll. He’s a very talented 18 year old actor who has appeared on Ally McBeal and will be in the movie The Grinch with Jim Carrey.
Yuck. I remember this. Count Baltar from Battlestar Galactica (John Colicos) being the mad scientist in question. After he was killed off, his wife (Elizabeth Taylor) appeared on the show.
Why do soaps have this seeming need for their plots to have ramifications that might affect the entire world? Why do they have to compete with each other to be “cutting edge”?
It seems to me you can create enough drama in the small town setting (didn’t most soaps start this way), with characters having real life foibles and situations (infidelity, crooked business dealings, greed, you know, the basic “good stuff”).
Pay more attention to solid writing, and less to being far out, and I think you’d come out ahead.
Just my opinion.
