Should I stick with Breaking Bad, or cut my losses now?

I enjoyed the series quite a bit, but I completely agree with you here. Cranston’s acting throughout was good, but I never saw anything that made me understand the lavish praise that was doled out. Really, Walter White was a rather monotonous character who slowly did worse and worse things but never changed from the egotistical, hyper self-assured and -justified jerk of the first few episodes.

Jesse, now… I am still awed by Aaron Paul’s arc with the character. One of the better series performances of the hardcore drama genre… bitch.

I highly doubt that you’re going to like it more if you keep watching. If you’ve not liked it so far, I don’t think this is the show for you right now.

If your tastes change in a few years, you might want to give it another shot. If they don’t, then you definitely gave it more than a fair chance.
ETA: I wasn’t sucked in by the pilot when I first tried to watch it (when it first premiered), it wasn’t the show for me at that time. A few years later, I gave it another go and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I just skipped ahead and watched the final episode as some suggested (after reading summaries of what had happened up to that point so I wasn’t completely lost). It was just about the same as every other episode. Dragging and slow and monotonous for 90% of it, and 10% awesome.

I have mixed feelings about the show. I watched it off and on, but it was often too much soap opera-ish for my taste. Perhaps that is the nature of a one-hour show: it gets padded with a lot of silent stares.

He was three episodes from the third season finale. He would have at least finished the story arc from the season.

In those three episodes Walt took another huge step towards becoming Heisenberg interrupting Jesse facing off against the two dealers that killed Tomas.

Then he’d get the Jesse/Gale scene to end the season.

But it is all a moot point now as he skipped ahead and watched the series finale.

Sorry it wasn’t the show for you Drew.
