Should I tell my Bro to kill his dog?

I apologize.

This was not directed at anyone personally. If anyone has taken personal offense I sincerely apologize. I meant no personal attacks.

Having people tell, or allude, that I didn’t care for my mutts brought fierce feelings. Granted my posts prior didn’t show this.

Of course if anyone feels shorted of F-bombs lately…feel free to come and pick some fruit.

Your decision only.

:smack: Bullcookies. It was directed at MULTIPLE PEOPLE, that doesn’t mean you get to say it wasn’t directed at ANYBODY. That’s a bullshit apology.

This is a written word forum. We can’t hear your tone of voice, we can’t see body language, and we can’t read minds. We just have your words. Your words, and your style of writing, don’t come across as someone that has the bedside manor to be able to have the conversation you asked if you should have.

So we all said no.

I would never phrase the question “Should I tell my Bro to kill his dog?” Holy crap, and apparently that’s the edited version.

What the hell does that even mean?

You’re full of shit. If the dog isn’t suffering, what is the point of killing it?

Again this wasn’t directed at any particular person. I have nothing against anyone on the Dope.

If anyone feels attacked I will apologize as needed. I felt that people didn’t know how I felt about my mutts.

I asked a question as the answer is no. In my heart if know the answer is no. The mutt belongs to my cousin. I know this.

I agree that it is not my call, but it still pains me to see a dog in pain.

Perhaps I could have titled the thread “How can I tell my cousin to tell his mutt bye”. I dunno. I am new to forum stuff.

How would have others worded it?

This is me being mad about people thinking I don’t care for my mutts. This is me being stupid to the extreme. Allow me to pick the fruit from my stupid tree…

So is the dog actually in pain? Your OP says that the dog is happy, it just doesn’t get around very well right now.

Post 17 was the vet saying in a nice way that he is not in good health.
The vet was talking about how the mutt could not jump up on a couch or bed.
Between that time and now he can’t even climb a ramp.

Ok, this post makes the situation a little more clear. Your previous posts didn’t explain any of this. I mean, a few good months could easily mean “should be in good shape for a while longer, except for not being able to run around that much”.

If the dog is actually suffering and there isn’t anything else to be done, then being put down could be the best option. Otherwise, let nature do it’s thing. This is of course depending on the actual condition. Is it just old age? Are there other medical conditions that cause the dog a lot of pain?

I wouldn’t put an animal down except in cases of a lot of suffering that can’t be helped.

I spent many years of my childhood on a farm in Appalachia. We took care of the animals because we were going to eat them later. We always had a dog or two because they guarded the place. The barn cats must have made it on mice because we never bought a single bag of cat food.

I read the OP without a qualm.

What’s the dog’s use now? Nil. But the cousin is really attached to it so I’d say strap it on a skateboard and go 'long.

Everybody on this message board needs to understand something—there are pockets of people who “strive to survive.” Our way. I understand why Boogley gave a generic “fuck you.” In my three years or so on this board I’ve seen like-minded (to me) posters disappear, tired I guess of trying to fit in and make people understand, and I hate that. Please don’t push for action against Boogley. Instead, why can’t you give a chance to trying to understand standards not your own? To “combat ignorance” and all that, don’tcha know.

How would you word it when you have the conversation with your cousin?

I told him that it is time.

But love keeps things alive.
