Should I upgrade my cross-country skis?

We finally got some snow and I’ve been out cross-country skiing the last couple of days. But my boots seem too big (hammer toe), they seem to “wander” on the ski and the straps on my poles seem to chew up my wrists.

My skis are from the late 80’s and seem to work fine. But my boots seem too large and one of the clip-in bindings doesn’t work when it’s cold (if I take the ski off I can’t clip back in.)

So I looked at new boots today and found a pair that fit great. But I’m wondering if I should be upgrading everything, rather than just the boots that would work with my current bindings (SNS).

Suggestions?

Thanks,
