Thank you. This was enlightening.
I have been having issues with videos not playing, intermittent drops in my internet connection like every five minutes, only lasting two seconds but just long enough to freeze some games, and FB won’t load more than a bit then it just starts timing out which may be related to the connection drops. All this started after upgrading. I’m sure there’s something I’ve done to bork it all up of course. I’ve updated everything I can think to update. I’ve called upon the mighty gods of Google but so far others are complaining with no applicable fixes.
On the good side it’s better than 8.1 and after I upgraded my Second Life graphics improved considerably, but that may be a driver upgrade thing. I’d only had the computer a few weeks so I’m not sure what needed updating before I installed 10.
Every time a new version of windows comes out it seems there are similar worries.
Right click on start menu icon, select “Disk Management.” Lots of other good stuff in there, too. Top level Computer Management, Device Manager, Control Panel, Command Prompt (standard and admin), File Explorer, Event Viewer, etc.
Click Start, type Cortana, pick Cortana & Search settings. Looks like the options on that screen turn Cortana off.
There is way too much opt-out stuff in Win10 but it can be managed.
BTW, a big tip for Windows 10, when you want to find something quite often the fastest way is to click Start and just start typing what you want; notepad, mouse settings, wallpaper, etc.
