Here is Wisconsin we don’t have capital punishment. We had it once, but a few wimps got upset watching a horrible man choke when his hanging didn’t go quite right. But we do have life in prison with no parole. If a person is sentenced to life with no parole, should they have the option to instead be put to death, their choice? If not, why not?
Many people would rather be dead than sit in the can for the rest of their lives, so I say, why not execute them if they want it.
I say yes.
Well, if they really want to die, it shouldn’t be too hard to get killed in prison.
All they have to do is rush the fence.
If we are going to try and make suicide illegal, I don’t see how you can make an exception for inmates.
…and having the state execute people upon request is a horrible precedent to set IMHO.
Absolutely. It is cruel and unusual (or should be unusual) to subject someone to imprisonment and deny them the right to die instead.
Well, it is supposed to be prison fer crying out loud. If you think prison is supposed to be a punishment, then really: of course not. If you think prison is supposed to stop people from acting criminal again, then obviously it would be a good idea to just kill all of them. If you think prsion is supposed to be a place where people learn what they have done wrong so they don’t do it again, all sentences shouldn’t be longer than 8 hours.
Way I see it is, if they want to die then keeping the scum alive is an excellent punishment.
Here’s something betenoir posted in another thread that I tihk you should see:
Besides, if the state doesn’t want to grant their request to die, there are various options such as relentlessly squealing on other inmates or attacking the guards.
For the same reason I can’t get the state to kill me upon request.
