You cannot ignore them because one day the phone call will be genuine. Part of the answer is to treat anyone making hoax bomb threats as terrorists and sentence them accordingly. We are ahead of you on this because we had to learn from the I.R.A
Not sure if some of you are aware that businesses (i.e. Walmart) get bomb threats all the time and almost never close/evacuate. When was the last time a store full of customers blew up in the USA? Yes, they do call police and reports are made, and sometimes an idiot is shocked he’s being charged with a felony for making what he thought was just a prank phone call. But that’s usually the extent of what happens and the general public never is the wiser. My cite is 33+ years of law enforcement having responded to a zillion of these things.
Our state capitol here get’s bomb threats on a weekly basis. It’s rarely evacuated. Once again the general public is never told. My cite is my brother who was a Capitol Police officer for quite some time.
Business and government can’t come to a screeching halt everytime some idiot says he’s going to do something that has less chance of happening than winning the Powerball.
So until a school explodes after threat is actually made I say president mandates to ignore them.
My Home Town was bombed by the I.R.A, Two pubs I used in another town were bombed thankfully I changed my plans for that evening, I have spoken to people who lost family members and friends in the Birmingham bombing, my mother in law left a restaurant in London just before a bomb exploded.** Please do not ignore bomb threats**

What exactly do you think we should do about it beyond try to find out who called it in?
Sorry, but comparing how things go in the U.S. to elsewhere is beyond apples and oranges. They are investigated here but let me assure you, for every one you read about in the newspaper at least 100 more have happened that you’ll never hear about.
You really think every business and government building here is going to evacuate and close every time some kid or adult idiot calls in a threat? This shit happens here every day. If we ran out into the street every time one was called in few things would ever remain open. :rolleyes:

They keep making false alarms until you ignore them then you start putting bits in body bags
But I think the OP is referring to the U.S… Things here for the time being are different than they are elsewhere in the world.
Here practically all bomb threats are false. A business isn’t going to evacuate and frighten his employees and customers and lose money every time some ass calls one in. And these things get called in all the time to places. Shutting down a business, school, courthouse, etc. for a threat of something that never happens is absurd.
When businesses, schools, courthouses, etc. start blowing up after a threat our tactics will probably change.
The Columbine killers certainly did not call in a threat.
A better response is to try and ensure schools are safe so its harder for someone to place a bomb in the first place. I know schools in our area have totally upped the security where now I dont see how anyone could just walk into a high school, place a bomb, and then exit before someone notices.
Another is to up the phone tracking technology so police can pinpoint calls quickly.
My University didn’t ignore bomb threats, but they did actually have a different protocol for “bomb threats to examination centres just before examinations”. Because they got a LOT of those.
Ok, in that case they can set up near airtight security of a securable building. Nobody allowed to bring anything in and everyone goes thru a metal detector.
Somebody calls in a bomb threat and they will just laugh at them.
