I’m thinking of the loud music and “mild” sleep deprivation and just the dumb stuff like shaving beards and shining lights in their eyes during questioning.
They used that music thing at Waco and Ruby Ridge as well, and it sounded stupid, but if it’s meant to disorient people and make them comply with you out of physical pain or fatigue, then it seems just as wrong.
The key should be the Golden Rule. Do we want our troups to be bombarded with music until they crack and agree to captor’s commands? If that kind of thing makes us run to the UN (and it does), then why allow it all?
The second key, of course, is What Would A Jury Say? Would they be tempted to throw out the confession as coerced? If so, the method is wrong to start with.
