Should we allow Avatars

You know, I wonder if I could do the following, just for fun (it’s been a while since I’ve done any programming):
[li]register something like avatar-sdmb.com or something like that;[/li][li]write a quick (probably not secure) registration system allowing people to upload their avatars and associate them with their screen names;[/li][li]load the SDMB into a frameset;[/li][li]do some dynamic DOM manipulation to load the users’ avatars.[/li]
Or do something similar via a FireFox plugin (but not everyone uses FireFox, and I’ve never programmed Firefox besides).

Oh, for the record, I voted no, but now I’m interested in the technical challenge.

Oh, man, sorry about that mess above. Must learn to preview. :smack:

I don’t care.

I voted yes because of it being optional for those who do not want to see them. Also I thought the poll would be more 50/50ish.

I voted in this poll, but won’t say whether I voted yes or no as that might be construed as debate on the subject.

Likewise. Seems pretty straightforward to me.

Good question, seeing as Czarcasm seems to have arbitrarily stopped enforcing the rule. :dubious:

Yeah, because you were who I was thinking about.

Sure. Why not? It’ll be a choice as to whether you want to see/use them anyway.

Someone doesn’t know what “100%” means.

Closing thread.
