In the wake of the close election, should the 48 states that have winner-take-all laws on the books repeal those laws and replace them with apportioned electoral like Maine and Nebraska have?
I think winner take all is odious, but states do that to boost their power. IIRC it used to be less winner take all than it is today. IIRC the states determine this themselves.
IMHO, the states should absolutely discard the winner take all EC concept, and the sheer number of EC votes should be 20 times the current amount. That would allow third parties who take 5% of the vote to garner at least one EC vote in states like Alaska, which has only 3 EC votes to cast.
How so?
