Show me your handwriting

sigh I wish I had nice handwriting.
I’m thinking of actually sitting down and practicing, because my students come up to me and ask, “what’s this squiggle?”
Oh. That’s a comment on your writing. It says…hmmm…

Benjamin B…?

My handwriting swings between a childish print and a cursive-ish thing, depending on my mood and level of laziness.

‘Cursive’
I use a messier version where most of the letters in between the long loops are reduce to small waves when I’ve got to write something in a short time, like an essay. I’ve dumped my old essays though, and most of my uni essays are done on my computer.

Sloppy print (taken from some old history notes)

Your print is easier to read than your cursive, but your cursive has STYLE.

Cursive My hand felt a little tense writing this first sentence (from Ben Hogan’s 5 Lessons of Golf). My name is below it, followed by the title of my lab manual.

My print. From my Managerial Accounting notes.

Turns out I posted in the wrong thread.

My writing when I’m not under pressure…

Good thing I can read it…snerk

I’m incredibly jealous of everyone in this thread. My handwriting looks like crap compared to everyone else’s. Of course, it looks like crap on its own, but seeing other people’s writing makes it seem worse. Anyone have tips to make it better?

I actually got terrible grades in elementary school for my handwriting. Maybe I overcompensated. My handwriting is nicest with felt-tip pen, for some odd reason.

I really envy people with nice cursive handwriting, though. Mine is awful.

I would kill for cursive handwriting like that.

No, really.

Who can I kill to get it?

A nun. That’s where I got mine.

Apparently, me, too.

My glorious handwriting.

Whoa. You do calligraphy all the time? I only do it for special projects! And then it doesn’t look that nice. :o

Gus, you crack me up.

**Interface2x ** and feppytweed, you both have very legible handwriting!

My cursive is where I “overcompensated.” I was in tenth grade when I decided I was embarrassed by my handwriting and turned every homework assignment into a handwriting exercise. I didn’t work on my print or number-writing, though, and they aren’t great.

It’s only partially calligraphy. When I take notes by hand, I try to write all fancy and stuff just so I can stay awake.

Sample.

(Don’t you think it’s like literary Ambien?)

I went to school with a girl whose handwriting was gorgeous - looked like Thai or Cambodian or something - but, as it was American English, was totally illegible.
