NM.

I like this thread!

Here are my reactions so far.

Disposable Hero: Remind me never to try and storm your citadel.

Idle Thoughts: Swap the Kellermans for Ed McBains, lose the Playboys and Potters and we are brothers.

lieu: Very clubby. Pip-pip.

kcor1953: Dust once in a while, ya nit.

Dung Beetle: (closet) I have my old SF Book Club books in my closet. (S King) “shelved in order of publication” Funny, that’s what I did with my King books. I do that with no other author (except Doc Savage and the like). They’re on my dresser.

Here’s my library.

(actually most of my 2000+ ebooks reside in calibre on my laptop, but there are around 400 on my Kindle)

A portion of my bookshelf (you might be able to tell this photo was taken at work).

Now that there’s been an earthquake in the DC area, I would not want my work area to be under that dome.

All my 600 shelf feet (last time I checked) are in 30 bookcases/shelving setups in 6 rooms all on a first floor slab. Most are tabulated on my 'puter as an MS Word° table.

Main categories-Mediterranean & French Riviera (spent 2 years there), travel/exploration, military/navy/nautical (been there), Holocaust (been to Dachau) , Govt/politics, JFK/Abe/BHO, cinema, biography, nature/science/ technology, geography/geology, self help, traffic/ transportation, maps/atlases, USA, art, architecture, African/American, civil rights, sociology, urban studies/history, fiction (mostly “classic” vs." fantasy").

I actually did a shelf porn post on my blog not too long ago.

Of course, it’s already outdated. That’s what comes of working close to multiple book stores.

I don’t have a wide enough lens.

I think I’ve posted this here before, but why not. The first photo was the bookcase that inspired me to get my own built. I was promised they’d look similar, but the contractor turned out to be a bit of a putz. However, it looks pretty good, it’s got LOTS of shelf space, and they’re sturdy enough that I can, as you see, load them without worry.(The link is to a FaceBook album chronicling the build and the shelving; you do not need a FaceBook account to see it.)

For those wondering, that’s approximately 44 linear feet of wall space by about 8 feet of vertical space.

Take multiple pictures. I did!

Did I kill the topic? :frowning:

Well, your bookshelf did kick all the other bookshelves’ asses…

Here’s a picture taken yesterday, right before we went to a pirate-themed party. Sorry it’s not a great shot–something’s blocking the bookshelf.

Everyone’s shelves are so neat! Mine’s a mess…

<wistful> Harlan Ellison has a library with 250,000 books in it. </wistful> Of course, he can afford to house them, too.

I’ve sometimes thought that a good genie wish would be to have a complete copy of everything ever written, fully cataloged and indexed, with English translations, and the money required to house and protect them for my entire life. Or maybe the ability to read and understand the originals … Might be easier if it’s digital … <falls into sweet, if frustrating, daydreams>

It took a while, but the holiday vacation finally gave me a chance to be at home while the sun was in the right position to illuminate my bookshelves. Here’s the resulting collage.

(I’m aware that the Narnia series is out of order by a cyclic permutation. I just haven’t bothered to rearrange them since the moving van dropped off 50 cubic meters of the family estate last summer.)
