Showgirls appreciation thread.

I just watched this movie again, on VH-1 this time. Am I the only person in the world that liked this movie? Putting all of the sub-par acting aside, I loved the relationship between Noni and Crystal. The chemistry between the two female leads was incredible.

Go ahead and rip me apart. I know this isn’t Oscar material but, I found the story quite compelling.

Well, lots of people enjoy watching “Showgirls” strictly on the it’s-so-bad-it’s-good factor.

“I used to love Puppy Chow!”

Kind of sad that the only good part of the film was the rape scene.

I might have enjoyed it more but everytime I saw Elizabeth Berkley I thought of Sneech. Everytime I saw Kyle MacLachlan I thought of backwards talking midgets. Everytime I saw Gina Gershon I had to look away (that woman just gives me the willies)

I adore Showgirls! I have it on DVD, and I watch it at least once every couple of months. As Quentin Tarantino said, “Showgirls is the first big-budget exploitation movie.” It is wonderfully campy and awful, like a version of All ABout Eve as written by Jacqueline Susann.

“I’m NOT a whore!”

“I’m erect, why aren’t you erect?”

“It must be weird, not having anybody cum on you”

Cool, I thought I was the only one who liked it. VH-1 edited out all of the “good” parts though.

Hmmm…maybe I need to rewatch it, because from what I remember, not even the nudity made it worth the $3.00 rental.

It was in no way “So-bad-it’s-good,” it was just “Bad.”

Apparently VH-! has decided to run it into the ground because the damn thing has been on AT LEAST 7 times in the last week. It’s almost but not quite as bad when VH-! would program nothing but that hideously awful The Jacksons mini-series EVERY FUCKING WEEKEND.

The movie’s a piece of crap, but I went to high school with the actress who played “Hope” (the fresh-faced blonde rookie dancer). In high school, she was notorious for having an incredibly hot body. Not necessarily popular, mind you, but definitely notorious.

Anyway, I had heard she was in that movie. That’s why I rented Showgirls that one time, to show my support for a fellow alumnus. Honest.

Just to nitpick - it’s Screech, unless you’re thinking of Dr. Seuss.
