Showing off a bit

I know I already said it over on LJ, but WOW!!

You guys took an ugly duckling of a house, and turned it into a swan.

Does the color you painted the living room have a name? It’s not a color I’d have chosen, but it looks really good!

Looks great! I love the terra cotta (?). The dining room is making me jealous, I only have a breakfast nook.

FCMom, I didn’t see the pinko phone anywhere…

<ducks and runs>

I cannot believe the kitchen. It is [overthetopgaydecorator]F-AAAAAAAAA-BUUU-LOUSSSSSSS!!![/overthetopgaydecorator]

I believe the color of the living room is called dreamsicle. What? It makes me want one.

Everything looks great. Way to go on the color and style stuff FCD!

FCM, amazing! You took something that looked like a period piece from a bad period, and made it look warm and inviting.

All while having energy to post things that made me laugh.

You are my new person to envy.

Wow! We’ve been in our house since April, and we’re happy that we’ve managed to paint the living room!

Congratulations on lots of jobs well done!

FCM, I love it all. The living room color, the painted fireplace, the kitchen…everything looks DEVINE! BTW, I learned to sew on a working Singer much like the one in your living room.

Wow! I can see a lot of “sweat equity” there for you…and you deserve every penny of it!

Thanks for sharing the pics. It fires me up to get some projects started. I love the painted fireplace surround. It always surprises me when people are reluctant to paint brick when it looks so good. And I love the kitchen!

When’s the party??

FCM, you should be proud! You’ve done a great job all around. I wish I had half the energy to do what you’ve accomplished.

Actually, in about a month we’re getting ready to paint our downstairs. It should prove interesting in that I don’t have but one wall that doesn’t have something to worry about it, edge, window, fireplace, door, etc. I also have rounded corners. We’re going to go for a warm color (difficult to find now that I’ve ordered a burgundy loveseat and sofa), but we want a contrasting wall too.

Didn’t mean to blather on…your work makes what I’m facing look like a day in the park.

Thanks, everyone - you make me blush! Well, just a little, when I’m not bustin’ my buttons with pride.

I believe the official name is Booth Homestead Peach - or maybe Homestead Booth Peach. If I was inclined to walk down to the basement and look at the label on the can, I could tell you for sure. When it first went on the walls, I was making pumpkin jokes, but I truly love it now. The dining room color is called Fairy Dust (just a coincidence - I don’t dust!) The lower part of the family room is light sage, and the upper part is called Possibility. Paint color names crack me up sometimes!

As for when’s the party - probably not till the spring, when everyone can be outside. I don’t need a buncha tacky people clomping around in my house! :stuck_out_tongue:

VunderBob, the pink phone is still in the laundry room, but we removed the blue one from the bathroom. I still don’t know what possessed them to put a phone in the potty room…

OK, no more smilies for now. But speaking of pumpkin, the house smells yummy because I just baked some pumpkin pies. All 3 from Thansgiving are gone!!! So now we have 3 more. Too bad no one lives close enough to stop by for some pie.

Marsie, I was really nervous about the living room color, but my husband really wanted to go with a darker, warmer color. I figured worse case, I’d have to repaint. But I’ve come to love the color, and I especially love the foyer tiles he installed.

I think that it’s important to take chances with color. Maybe because my mother was always an “any shade of white you like” kind of gal. We just redid our bedroom and I went with a shade of green that matches the band on a set of old Fondeville dishes (or half of a Prozac capsule :stuck_out_tongue: I knew it was a risk. Opening the can gave me an anxiety attack. But the results…mmmmmm…I love it. What the h-e double hockey sticks…you can always paint over.

In our last house, the master bedroom was a deep garnet. I absolutely loved it, but when we went on the market, the realtor told us to paint it a lighter color. It took 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of paint to cover it. I wept with every coat.

Our bedroom here will be dark, but we haven’t gotten around to discussing its decor yet. We shall see…

Pretty cool. Enjoy your victory.
