Shrek vs Blackadder

I’ve just discovered something suspicious.

The numbering for the Black Adder series matches almost exactly the Shrek series. I’ve always thought of Dreamworks Animation of being highly plagiaristic with their ideas, but this one takes the cake.

The Black Adder
Blackadder II
Blackadder The Third
Blackadder’s Christmas Carol
Blackadder Goes Forth

Shrek
Shrek 2
Shrek The Third
Shrek The Halls
Shrek Goes Fourth

I call shenanigans.

It’s a cunning plan.

It’s not like Blackadder came up with a novel and otherwise unheard of naming scheme. This is pretty basic stuff.

How disappointing. I thought this was going to be a cage match.

If we get a Shrek time traveling movie next, I’ll start to worry.

There’s lots of people who’d like to see an animated character voiced by Mike Myers who doesn’t speak at all.

Are you mixing up Blackadder with Mr. Bean?

I’d take Shrek. He fought a whole bunch of armed knights at once - and later a dragon - in the first movie; he can certainly handle Blackadder.

Shrek could beat the original Black Adder, but I think the others in the Blackadder line would find a cunning way to defeat him. Or to avoid the fight altogether.

I thought this was going to be about fine single malt scotch while watching Shrek. Damn.

As it hasn’t gone in the direction I had intended, then it can be about anything you like.

So far Shrek hasn’t attempted CPR on a decapitated person, so Black Adder is still ahead (so to speak).

But Blackadder didn’t have a 3D film originally made for a theme park, and later released as a separate video. (Although he DID do a film for an exhibition that was later released. But the order’s wrong.)
