How did this phrase originate?
Ask anyone who has a dog. Dogs often eat things humans find unpalatable and when it disagrees with them, they vomit it right back up. Often right on the carpet.
And then they eat it again.
…and then they crap it out, and the cat sniffs it.
I’ve witnessed this many times!.! Didn’t seen to harm her, but i was like, rusty no!
This is a total guess, but I think it’s a reference to street dogs. Dogs that are left loose to fend for themselves like stray cats tend to succumb to a variety of nasty diseases, starting with fleas and ticks (ever seen a dog’s ear stuffed full of ticks? It’s gross) all the way to distemper, rabies and other nasty stuff. It’s costly and time intensive to rehabilitate dogs rescued from the street because you have to treat for several diseases simultaneously.
My puppy barfs halfway to puppy class, and has it cleaned up by the time we get there. sigh. Good thing I’ve got a cargo liner.
