Back over the summer I had a part-time job cooking in a little Irish pub-style place. There was this one CD that we tended to listen to a lot. It was a mix CD made by someone who didn’t work there anymore, so I could never ask him what the song was.
The style was sort of a “jam band”-ish? There was a backbeat, and a good portion of the song was a guy more or less just talking over the backbeat, and then the chorus was alternately suing by a girl and a guy.
At this point, all I can remember is the following line:
“And I never saw that boy/girl again.” (When the girl was singing, it was “boy” and the opposite when the guy sang.)
him:
“Everything was spinning and I came to in the chillout tent,
they gave me oranges and cigarettes.”
her:
“I got really hot and then I came to in the chillout tent”
both:
“They gave us oranges and cigarettes.”
