*sigh* Another "name this song for me" thread?

Yup.

Back over the summer I had a part-time job cooking in a little Irish pub-style place. There was this one CD that we tended to listen to a lot. It was a mix CD made by someone who didn’t work there anymore, so I could never ask him what the song was.

The style was sort of a “jam band”-ish? There was a backbeat, and a good portion of the song was a guy more or less just talking over the backbeat, and then the chorus was alternately suing by a girl and a guy.

At this point, all I can remember is the following line:

“And I never saw that boy/girl again.” (When the girl was singing, it was “boy” and the opposite when the guy sang.)

And I think there was a line about oranges…

“Chillout Tent” by the Hold Steady.

him:
“Everything was spinning and I came to in the chillout tent,
they gave me oranges and cigarettes.”
her:
“I got really hot and then I came to in the chillout tent”
both:
“They gave us oranges and cigarettes.”

Thanks a lot! Less than thirty minutes. I love this place sometimes.

Only sometimes? :dubious:

All it took was entering “And I never saw that boy again” on Google and clicking on the first result.

I must have forgotten the quotes when I did it, because it didn’t come up for me. :smack:
