On a side note: Around November when the bombs were dropping on Afghanistan and Big Daddy Bush had an 89% approval rating, people were already talking about his assured second term. Others were quick to point out that his father had a 79% approval rating during the Gulf War–and still lost to Clinton on “the economy, stupid.”
This Citizen Corps idea is not going to help his chances, unless he’s looking for a distraction from the stock market and WorldCom. Bad move, Georgie! Come on, you can still pull this one off before mid-term elections! Come to your senses, get tough on corporations, and start defending private liberties. Get back over to the right already.
