Silver or gold?

Do you prefer silver (or silver-colored: platinum, etc.) jewelry or gold (or gold-colored)?

All of our wedding jewelry is in white gold. So there! :stuck_out_tongue:

Definitely silver.

Go ahead and guess. :stuck_out_tongue:

Gold. I’m Indian and I still have a love for the deep yellow gold of my people. I love silver and even ‘lesser’ gold but my favorite is still 22K.

Donald Trump really ruined gold for everyone, didn’t he?

I like copper.

This is pretty stupid but I’ve always worn a Mickey Mouse watch which happens to usually have a gold frame around the face and gold clasp. When it breaks I buy a new one on eBay so that is why I say “usually” cuz sometimes I have to replace it.

Anyway, to “match” that I wear 4 gold hoops in my ears, just the tiny 1/2" ones. I wear them every day, never taking them out. Because they’re good enough.

I think I bought a set of silver hoops too just in case I switch watches or have to wear silver-colored jewelry sometime. But it’s been default gold for a long time.

I generally never wear any other jewelry ever.

Depends.

Silver-colored metals are what I mostly prefer, especially with gemstones, because of the icy sleekness of it. I definitely prefer silver-colored metals for modern sleek jewelry.

But: yellow gold brings out the color of some stones, especially blue stones. (This is a big deal for me because I looooove blue stones.) Also the warm gold color is just kind of pretty. For bringing out the blue of gemstones as well as for jewelry where a bit of a warmer color is called for, I really like yellow gold, especially high karat… beautiful stuff.

Rose gold is a really neat color, too.

My wedding band is yellow and rose gold together.

I inherited some silver flatware, and, alas, it tends to tarnish terribly. Every so often, I make the effort to polish it up, and it’s beautiful. But, with the passage of time (and a damn short period of time, too) it loses its luster and goes back to being dirty and gray.

I voted for Silver…but the real stuff has limitations…

(Yes, I know, so do I. Lazy.)

Silver, easy. Gold is too damn expensive for too little product. For much less money, you get a larger necklace/bracelet/other piece of jewelry.

Nevermind that gold is already associated with overly flashy douchebags and scum bags that wear their shirt unbuttoned halfway down their ugly chest.

Silver all the way. I dislike gold, and have no use for it.

Jewelry on others? Silver. Jewelry on myself? Rope. Or fossil.

Silver. I don’t think white people can pull off gold jewelry without looking like an '80s-era cheeseball or a wannabe pimp (and I am no exception). My single exception would be a gold wedding ring. It’s just a color thing. Darker skin tones complement gold jewelry much better, and white people should stick with silver.

I don’t have a problem with people wearing whatever jewelry they like, though, and I’d never say anything to someone about their choice in jewelry. But I’ll still think it’s tacky. I had to roll my eyes when my (very white) dad got a gold neck chain and earrings for his mid-life crisis. Silver would have looked a lot less tacky.

Yellow or pink gold. But it has to be real. Gold tone is an abomination.

Most of my jewelry including my engagement ring has both: yellow gold and either white gold or platinum. I really like the combination.

Gold looks much, much better on me. I can’t wear pure white or black, I need bold, clear colors. So I wear yellow or rose gold.

Now, I do buy silver. I buy those one ounce medallions for stocking stuffers, that sort of thing. I really can’t afford to buy that much gold at once.

Me too. Gold, copper, and golden-copper. Or coppery-gold.

Gold is worth it’s weight in gold.

The dull, unsettling glint of depleted uranium.
