I got After Dark, and I like it quite a bit. There are extra recreational buildings, which are fun; one of my favorite parts of the game is designing massive picturesque parks and monuments. The tourism specialization actually makes tourism a viable option for city development-- though one thing to note is that the biggest tourism draw seems to be to place an inordinate number of parks and plazas. I’m sort of puzzled what to do with the taxis, and with the international airport, since it seems like I never get enough tourists to justify the expense. Anyway, the expansion is definitely worth the $10 for me, especially since this is the sort of game that I’ll spend hundreds of hours on.
So, a puzzle. I unlocked all of the unique buildings on one computer, then installed Cities: Skylines on a new computer, and none of the unique buildings are unlocked. What happened? How do I fix this? I really don’t want to go to all the trouble of unlocking all the stuff all over again, especially the city-wrecking achievements like 50% unemployment and so on.
I was talking about this mod with someone yesterday and he said we need a Dutch version - when snow falls, the trams don’t run at all. Heh. That’s true for some of the older trams in this city.
Quill18 and a number of other youtubers have let’s play’s up of the first few hours with new cities in the new snow maps.
Those blizzards look brutal!
Luckily the devs worked with a lot of the most popular modders so that hopefully not too many mods will break with the update - although traffic ++ apparently doesn’t work, I switched to traffic manager a while back though.
My little guy loves the game, and keep asking me to “follow the bus, daddy!”, so I’ve been letting him enjoy bus trips around my city for a few minutes before bath time. He also loves finding traffic jams (of which there are plenty!) and especially fires!
“Oh no daddy! fire! what happenned?! eee-aww-eee-aww”
They haven’t done something dumb like only making trams available for snow maps, right? 'Cause I don’t care about snow, I just want trams on my regular maps.
Trams, the heating mechanic and overall weather are available anywhere. But specific snow issues like accumulation, snow services, etc are limited to the snow maps.
Finally started playing after picking this up in the winter sale. I’ve looked at a few guides but mostly my playing style comes down to “Eh, this looks like it will work.”
My first city died when I missed a one square connection to the sewage pipe. I didn’t realize until I was already in the red so I couldn’t fix it.
My second city is going better. I’m at around 7500 people right now, but the whole place was haphazardly thrown together. It’s holding steady, but I can’t really expand much more without it collapsing in on itself. Rather than restarting, I bough the next space over and am building the suburbs. It’s planned out, and no one will be allowed over until it’s all ready.
If I zone something and no one can get to it, will it develop on it’s own?
