SimCity 3000 Unlimited Question

When the Nuclear Power Plant explodes and all those little tiny yellow dots are littered all around showing where there is radioactive contamination, what exactly has happened to the land there? What will happen to any building there (zoned and unzoned) ? If there is a school or police station there, will it still function? How about a park? Can it be built on at all? If I put a gigamall or something there, will I still get my $400 a month? Will the dots ever go away, or are they there forever? Surprisingly, the manual does not answer any of these questions.

I’m curious about this myself. In SC2K, fallout from a meltdown seemed to be permanent (500+ years with no change). Contaminated squares were no longer zoned, and nothing new could be done with them.

How do you like SC3KU? I just ordered it from Amazon about 30 minutes ago.

I love it!!

In 3K, there are little dots that hover over the contaminated area. It took me a while to figure out what was going on. For a while I thought there was a clitch or something, or it just got messed up. The manual does not even mention these things. Eventually I realized a plant exploded. There was nothing around the plant at all, that is why I am curious about its destructiveness of pre-existing buildings. I know I can put things there after the fact, because I planted a butt-load of trees and parks there in an effort to ‘clean up’ the radiation. Hoping maybe the SIMS would be so happy they have new parks, they would forget about the whole Nuclear Disaster thingy…
It let me build the parks there. But the auro for that area was a red as possible.
I ended up just quitting that game and I have not played since. Now I am curious if that city is still worth playing (will it go away) or should I just start a new one.
