Every George Thorogood song sounds like every George Thorogood song.
And the first line (and chorus) of Hush is pretty much a faster version of the Beatles’ A Day in the Life (the part just after Paul sings “somebody spoke and I went into a dream”).
I came here to say that! I posted about this on a Dope thread, about seven years ago.
Ha! Well, the one I referenced there. So, my original post on this was more like ten years ago. Now I feel really old.
By the way, pianist John Bayless did a kind of mash-up album in the 80s called Bach on Abbey Road. For his take on “A Day in the Life,” he devised a lovely Bach-like prelude based just on that four-chord melody/harmony segment.
I can’t find a link to the piece online, but I strongly recommend the whole album, especially if you like both Bach and the Beatles. My kid, when he was maybe nine, enjoyed trying to sleuth out which Beatles song each track was referencing.
Seconded - and I’ll make the same recommendation for Joshua Rifkin’s album The Baroque Beatles Book.
And Baa Baa Black Sheep, all written by Mozart.
And one of his variations thereupon sounds like “Hatikvah” (and “The Moldau”).
Bang on! Good call.
