Simple LOTR:TT question (spoiler)

They seemed to be laying the groundwork for that in this movie. And they’ve been pretty faithful to the book so far, just cutting out a few bits that don’t really matter that much to the story, so I’d be surprised if it doesn’t.

In regards to the distraction to the Nazgul having his mount shot at:

In the books, Legolas does slay the stead of a flying Nazgul with an arrow, so Faramir causing some real control issues may not be as cheezy as it looks on first reflection.

Essentially correct, except Sauron didn’t flee in the usual sense. He had been left behind when the fleet sailed for Aman and was smashed along with the island so “he could never again assume fair shape.” His spirit fled to Mordor where, after marshalling strength and a couple armies, he again tried to take over Middle Earth which is where we come in at the beginning of the FOTR movie.

Some people just never learn.

I paid attention to this scene. As soon as Faramir’s arrow strikes the Nazgûl’s steed, we see Sam and Frodo get into a tussle, Frodo draw his sword, and Sam address him. Then we see the wraith flying away. The point is that there could have been five dozen Men shooting arrows at it the whole time the camera’s on Sam and Frodo.

Also surprise. The two chief weapons of the Nazgul are fear, surprise and a ruthless efficency. Errr… The three chief weapons of the Nazgul are fear, surprise, their ruthless efficiency and an unyielding alligence to Sauron… Ohhh!

(Sorry. Sorry. I’ll go now… ;))
