Simple PC Video editing software that doesn't re-encode saved segments?

I would like to find software that allows me to easily cut segments out of existing video files, and keep the exact format of the original without re-encoding it to another format.

I’ve tried Windows Live Movie Maker (latest version as a couple weeks ago, the goddamn thing doesn’t have a Help->About for me to check version #) and CyberLink PowerDirector 8.00.2013, but these both force me to re-encode to a different format.

I just want to cut segments out and save them, at the same bitrate/frame rate/frame size of the original.

Virtual Dub (freeware) will do it if they are avi’s. If they are mpgs it will only convert them to avi’s.

Womble’s MPEG Video Wizard does exactly that, and does it perfectly.

Forgot to add:

http://www.videohelp.com/ is the greatest web site ever. Tutorials and search engines for whatever kind of video conversion you might ever want to do. Links to all the s/w that is covered and whether it is freeware, shareware, etc. Plus a message board to ask any addressed questions.

When I first started editing (cutting and pasting of parts of existing clips, which is what it sound like you want to do) and burning onto DVD, I found everything I needed to know there.
