Yup. Some people believe in all kinds of religious stuff, totally without evidence. At least some of us have seen UFO’s.
If Ivan wants to believe the truth is out there, that’s OK by me, and no reason to write him off as a lunatic.
The problem isn’t that he believes what he does…its that he simply refuses to engage anyone that even makes an honest attempt to discuss the subject with him unless they’ve read his precious fucking book. That, and he refuses to summarize or quote portions of the book to qualify his position.

I’m likely losing braincells reading that trainwreck, but it’s the bright spot in my week thus far, beating out the HR mandatory training because the unintentional funny here is the failure of the troll to convince us he doesn’t actually believe the crazy.
It’s like he’s aware that his crazy won’t stand up to any analysis, so he doesn’t want to expose to anyone who’s capable of debunking it; but still crazy enough to think that many people would actually believe the crazy. I’d be sad for him, but he sounds to much like a timeshare or amway salesdweeb, he won’t show you the goods until you’ve gotten far enough in that the pitch sounds completely reasonable.

I just can’t understand opening a thread about something that interests you or about something you believe in and then shut out all conversation with such a heavy qualifier as having to read some book in order to take part in the discussion…particularly when the discussion is about UFO’s. Why even bother? And then on top of it act all butt-hurt and get hostile when posters take you to the mat for it.

Other than these occasional “look at me” threads that he authors he can be a witty and informative poster.

I’m not sure how that excuses his behavour. I have no problems with his beliefs or his right to express them here but read that thread, there were some very patient
attempts to get him to explain why he believes as he does. Those polite questions were brushed aside with insults.
I don’t agree that most people who think as he does shy away from explaining the reasons for their beliefs. In fact in my experience it’s just the opposite. Ivan is in a league of crazy all his own.

His main problem is he doesn’t take the internet as seriously as some people.
