Well, since it’s been explained that Prof. Frink has never had a date and is single, we can only assume the Frink boy is a clone.
Now I feel silly for saying it was the best one I’ve seen.
Actual funny moments, more than one even.
Especially the fish tank one.
That was a spoof of 'The Island of Dr. Moreau", I think.
Which was done first by South Park!
Milhouse should run down the street yelling “South Park did it! South Park did it!”
i came to complain about the spoiler, i stay to complain about the wanna-be CBG.
A paraphrase
“You’re a good luck cat! Hello to Snowball V, but so I don’t have to buy a new dish, I’ll name you Snowball II.”
“Isn’t that sort of a cheat?”
“Yes, it is, isn’t it, Principal Tamzarian?”
“Touche.”
Worst. Episode. Ever.
Spoiler Question: Was there a Snowball IV? I only remember Snowball III (fishtank) and Coletrane (jumped out window). What did Snowball IV look for, and how did s/he die?
I believe it’s because there are still a lot of fans who are in denial about its shittiness. Until 2 seasons ago, I was the same way. I continued to watch out of respect for the fact that it was my favorite show, praying that it would some day be funny again.
Fortunately, I saw the light, and I have officially given up on the show. The only bad thing is, these new episodes are weighing down the average quality of the entire run of the show, to the point were they may eventually nullify all that was once good about the older seasons.
I think Coltraine was Snowball IV for these purposes. Why…I don’t know.
I’m assuming Lisa counts Coltrane as Snowball IV.
“If you’ve ever wanted to see a mailbox shoot a boy, that’s as close as you’re gonna get!”
To further hijack this thread, can I just say that last week’s (the one where the childless people were getting tax breaks) was one of the funniest I’ve seen in a LONG time? Gives me hope for the future…
Evidence? In “Brother can You Spare Two Dimes,” he is seen with his kid. He flies him in a place, it crashes through a window, and he says,
“My wife is going to kill me.”
Then, in the ep. where Abe makes a sex tonic, he drinks it, becomes suave, and leaves with a nerdy chick, who we can assume is his wife.
Uhh, that should be plane, not place.
This season has definitely been a return to form, and I think it has yielded some of the funniest Simpsons moments ever.
People have different tastes, ya know. Tons of people love Red Dwarf, but I can’t stand it. Some people like sushi; I tried it today and really didn’t care for it. That doesn’t mean that everyone that likes sushi is in denial or something like that.
The Simpsons definitely dropped in quality, but I still found myself entertained by the worst of its episode. I’m not wrong or lying to myself; it’s just my opinion.
I love cats. I’ve get very sad when my cats die. I was genuinely shocked when Snowball II got killed.
That said, Snowball III floating face-down in the aquarium was the funniest thing I’ve seen all week.
I kept getting mixed emotions in this episode, shock and amusement- Like the funny photo of an accident that involved a Fedex truck and a UPS truck. Funny and horrible at the same time…
Some of my favorite bits-
-The “Battlebots” spoof
-Homer’s spring loaded first aid kit…he opens it and a syringe, scalpel, scissors, and a bandage get lodged in his forehead
-When Homer is getting beat up in the robot suit, Maggie can be seen bouncing around inside the suit
-Gil’s car accident
At least the new Simpsons episodes aren’t nearly as bad as the new Space Ghost.
Sometimes my favourite moments are those unexpected human me-too moments. In this one:
when Marge attempts to console Lisa by saying that the pain will eventually fade and is then drawn into fresh grief for her own lost “Cinnamon.” The joke itself is sort of ham-handed, but it feels so human to me.The Simpson’s has become such a cultural icon I don’t think it needs to be “funny” to be amusing anymore. Just some select buzzwords and it’s more like a brotherhood of the geek, like Monty Python quotes. I watched a marathon of MP the other night and some of the classic funny stuff was very far between…then, I watched the dead parrot sketch and all was right with the world. For my mom, it’s Monty Python or Gilbert & Sullivan references that will get you in with her. It’s like learning a few choice phrases to break the ice in another language, just more social shorthand for “you’re like me too.”
Oops. Rambling. Sorry.

I thought it had some great moments. I don’t hate cats, but I couldn’t help but laugh out loud at the image of Snowball III floating face down. I thought Homer’s attempt to be a robot was sweet. The “that’s cheating” from Skinner also caught me by surprise and made me laugh. Not every single joked worked but shrug it was still an enjoyable 22 minutes.
On the DVD commentary at this point, you can hear all the creator/writer types going, “hey, Frink doesn’t have a son. Or a wife. I guess we’ll have to go back and fix that somehow,” in a sort of laughing manner. The people that make the show really don’t pay all that much more attention to continuity than the average fan. Although, I have noticed in recent years that they’ve been trying to bring back a lot of old one-shot characters. In this episode, for instance, Reverend Lovejoy is operating one of the robots with his daughter.
