SIMS: Cell Phone Scramble

My wife and I went to buy new cell phones, one for each of us. Somehow, when moving the SIM card from the old phone to the new, our address books got mixed. In short, our books are half and half (when read by the old phone) and the new phone did not capture all the numbers on the SIM card. How is all this possible?

Some of the mystery seems to be that some numbers were saved to the phone, not the SIM card to start with. We’re just learning this now. Still, how could one SIM card become a mix of the two SIM cards?

This was supposed to be posted under “Factual Questions”…dang!

sim cards only hold a limited amount of data. Your phone probably automatically switched to phone memory when the sim card became full. You could try clearing all the names off the sim on the new phone and then copying from memory to card on the old one but its always iffy. If you take both phones and a laptop into a store, they might be able to use a data cable to mve the addresses across.

Darnit!

I can’t be the only one hoping that this was about the SIMS computer game.
