They replaced it with some lame thing called “Area” on channel 80. I’m so pissed. Didn’t think I really cared so much about it till it was gone. It was like an old friend was missing.

Sirius - XM merger lets RNATB listed to Sirius NFL stations - so happy.
Howard 100 and 101 intact?
Carry on.
Joe
Tell me about it, they took down Buzzsaw too. That was one of my favs of all time.
And the Old School hip-hop station’s gone, too. Now I have to re-do my presets, dagnabit. Wah! Wah! WAAAAH!
Ok, I’m over it.
My car has a factory XM system and it automatically moved my presets to match up with the new channel listing!
Yeah, I liked “The System”, myself. I’m not a big fan of “Area”- it just seems kind of… bland, I guess.
But can you still get CBC Radio 3? That’s the only reason I’d get satellite radio.
That, and if they carried Soma FM. Which they probably don’t.
I dumped Sirius a year or more ago, after they cut two of the stations which had caused me to purchase their services in the first place: Swing and Standards. They replaced them with “Siriusly Sinatra”, figuring that the only old-time stuff anyone ever listened to was Sinatra, I suppose. I despise the guy, so I gave Sirius the axe.
They now have “40’s on 4,” an all-1940’s station (as well as an all 90’s station, and not just the “alternative” stuff). By Standards, was that show tunes? because there’s an all-show tune channel too, I believe.
Yes, it is still on Sirius. I thought it was going to disappear in the November 12 realignment, but it’s stayed on. Long live obscure Canadian music.
You think you’re pissed? I bought Sirius stock 6 months ago.
Try GM stock instead.
Siriusly Sinatra plays a lot of old standards, it is not just the rat pack
I noticed today that the names of my alt channels, fred, lucy and ethel, all had new names. Seems to be a similar playlist. Kind of. Haven’t been in the car much, I guess.
Basically, as far as I can tell, XM users got fucked. Why we have to give up everything and Sirius users didn’t really lose anything pisses me off, especially since Sirius had crappier music to begin with.
Sirius users lost Boombox, Punk, Sirius Disorder, The Strobe, Backspin, Super Shuffle, Universo Latino, and Rumbón, among others.
Universo Latino and Rumbón have been combined into a single channel called Caliente – XM had 4 channels of Latino and Sirius had 2 and they’ve all been crammed into 1 channel (Caliente) that’s really not very good. Now I have FIVE channels from Canada and ONE channel of Latino music.
Backspin was our old-school rap channel and it’s been replaced with a daily one-hour show on Hip Hop Nation.
Boombox, one of the electronica channels, is just gone. Super Shuffle, which played more or less everything, is gone too.
The Strobe was the disco channel which I won’t miss, cause we don’t really need 2 70s channels. And I don’t know why we need two gospel channels
I will say that I really like Pop2K, which is new for us, and I like 90s on 9 and the new Pulse format. And I’m looking forward to the debut of Cinemagic after the holiday music disappears in the new year. We’ve long had a Broadway channel, but I’ve thought we needed a movie channel as well.
Super Shuffle is gone? Crap.
No more Old Time Radio.
While I don’t like all of the changes, The System was programmed by the bankrupt Worldspace satellite radio. Even if XM hadn’t done anything, I doubt the System and other Worldspace channels would be around much longer anyway.
It is still available on xmradio online.
