Sitcom Situations IRL... none, right?

Do you overhear parts of each other’s conversations and jump to shockingly incorrect conculusions? Further, do all the bedroom doors face one large central room and you spend nights moving from room to room, missing each other by seconds?

Not exactly. Sometimes there are jumped conclusions, but generally they are not shockingly incorrect.

My wife received a serious blow to the head, and got amnesia.

Seriously.

It’s not nearly as funny in real life. It was more of a Memento thing, where she could not form new memories. Long-term, sure she knew who she was, who I was, day of the week, but she was an ongoing blank slate. We spent thirty-six hours straight answering the same seven questions.

“What happened?” “You were in an accident.”
“Was it my fault?” “No, you got rear-ended.”
“Was anyone else hurt?” “Nope, everyone’s fine.”
“What happened to my truck?” “I’m sorry, babe, you’re truck’s totaled.”
“I love my truck.” “I know, sweetie.” We’ll get you a new one."
“Where are my clothes?” “They cut them off, but we’ll get you new clothes too.”
“Why do I need new clothes?” “You were in an accident.”
“Was it my fault?” etc.

Eventually, we wrote the answers on a whiteboard in front of her. That helped. Fortunately, it all wore off after a while, and she hasn’t had any problems since.

Wow, that must’ve been scary!

“I love my truck” isn’t really a question.
