Me too.
And yet, somehow, I’m compelled all the same. Ah, the magic of roller coasters.

Just think if you hurled at the highest peak of the coaster.

I have also seen an amazing rollercoaster on Discovery, called the X. (Actually the X-system, as it was a new category of rollercoasters)
This rollercoaster has swiveling seats that can rotate while it follows the course.
If I understood it correctly they use this to maximise the terror but also to minimise the “bumpiness” of a ride.
It looked like one hell of a rollercoaster.
Does anybody where this monster is? (Which themepark and where)

^ Six Flags: Magic Mountain. However, it was closed when I went shortly after it opened, and apparently it remained that way for at least 6 months. I don’t know whether it was because of mechanical problems or safety issues, but with the monkeys working there, I wouldn’t be surprised if both occured.
It was mechanical problems. The engineers failed to take into accound the stress that the arms sticking out to the side of the train cars would undergo, and had to redesign and reinforce the cars.
I’ve ridden it a half dozen times, and it’s a great ride, but it’s not worth the wait most days. There is no way to get on it without waiting a couple of hours at least, and usually more than that. You can get in line at the gate an hour or two before the park opens and go immediately to the entrance, only to have to wait another hour or two for it to open. Within 15-20 minutes of the park opening, it has a four hour wait. By noon it’s a six hour wait, and on one occasion when I was there they closed the line at a little after 4:00 to ensure that all of the people in line got to ride.
There are three coasters in the park that IMHO have better rides anyway–Deja Vu, Goliath, and Scream.
It’s a prototype, yes, but I seriously doubt there will ever be another. High cost, low capacity, difficult maintenence, and frequent breakdowns do not make for a good investment.
Hey, Kaitlin. Nice to meet you. I like your username too.
Oops, ignore that last comment. Wrong thread.
