Here’s what I’m looking for.
My friend has a 68 Mustang and I always thought it would be cool to have a recording of maybe an hour’s worth of radio air play from 1968.
I’m looking for more than just the music. I want the commercials and the news too. Are recording of this stuff for sale on the net?
This is as close as I could find on the net. On the upside, it is a station from Detroit. Click the 5th link on the green banner or check the 7 links on the bottom of that page.
If it’s essential it be '68 (which technically would mean Autumn 1967 when the cars come out…look into trading for / buying airchecks.
I have a great Allison Steele show from 1967 WNEW-FM as a last resort
Here are some Jean Shepherd shows from 1968.
Jean Shepherd is probably best known as the author of A Christmas Story, but his long-running radio show is some of the best rambling, stream-of-consciousness stuff going.
I have some episodes of Suspense from the 60s, if that holds any appeal for you.
Oh, and lots of AFRTS stuff from the Vietnam era. Just day-to-day stuff with news, music, call-ins, etc. Let me know if you want me to mail any of that stuff. (E-mail or snail-mail.)
If you don’t mind using Real Player, this web site might be what you’re looking for.
NDP, that’s an amazing site! Thanks for the link!
BINGO!
Back in the 70s, there was a series of albums called "Cruisin’ " – each album being a single radio show each year from the 50s and 60s, complete with commercials, and maybe even news headlines.
I haven’t seen the series in years, but I’ll bet you can find it on Ebay.
