Size of babies' eyes?

Is it true that the eye does not grow in size after birth? I’ve heard it many times but looking at a newborn’s face it is hard to believe their eyes are the size they will be 40 years down the road. What’s the deal?

In comparison to the rest of the body, the size of the eye changes relatively little after birth. Before birth the eye is fully developed by 7 months gestation.

2. Eye undergoes only a 2-3 fold increase in size from birth to adulthood. Growth occurs from birth to adolescence but most of the growth takes place within the first two years of life. See comparison of eyeball size. Axial length - infant: 16.5 mm, adult: 24.5 mm

3. Parts of eye do not grow uniformly. Lens size remains relatively unchanged. Depth of chamber increases greatly.
