Skeleton found in attic of Michigan home - is there recent news of this?

I read this story when it first came out and have heard nothing since. A family
discovered a skeleton under the floor of their attic. Link to story here.
Apparently, the bones have been there for many decades. It looks to me like
someone got away with murder. Perhaps a Straight Dope member who lives
in that area has some more recent news? I’d like to know if they were able
to find out anything about this person - when and why she died, who she
was, etc.

Wow - I live about 60 miles from Union City, and never heard about this. And I work at MSU, where the bones were taken for analysis. I found one short reference to it on MSU’s website to it, tho.

I’ll keep my ears open, and post something here if I see more about this.

Wow, that’s intriguing. It can take several months to figure out more info from skeletons, though…there was one from the 19th century unearthednear where I used to live and it took the authorities several months to figure it out.

You’d think this wouldn’t be too hard a case to figure out. It’s obviously someone with a connection to a former occupant of the house. It’s not like somebody dumped a body in an old abandoned house - this is somebody’s wife that “went home to mother” or a brother that just disappeared one day, or something like that.

I don’t know about that. These bones could be over 100 years old. Finding any record of the wife that “went home to mother” could be tough and the nosy neighbors aren’t around to help anymore.
