Skeptical book about the bible

I started a book a couple years ago about a guy who picked up a bible in a church one day and started writing about the experience of reading it all for the first time. It’s a book that’s been published in the last few years and I think the author might have been Jewish (but I don’t know that for sure). Can anyone help me with what the title of this book might be? Thanks in advance.

Was it Misquoting Jesus: The Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Why?

ETA: Never mind, I see on rereading your OP that probably wasn’t it.

No pravnik. Thanks, but you’re correct… that wasn’t it.

Maybe Reading the Bible Again For the First Time: Taking the Bible Seriously But Not Literally? It’s a Christian book, but written from a more critical perspective than usual (or so I understand, I haven’t read it).

This one?

That’s the one sniffo! Thank you so much!

You are welcome Shig. For any others that may be interested, here is a link to Plotz’s blog at Slate.com. An amusing read.

This book is one amazing read even for a non-believer like me. I recommend it very highly.
