Since the death of Sam, our tabby, TheLadyLion and are are a one kitty household. Oreo is 14 but in good health and we want to keep her that way. She’s small of stature but extremely skinny though she gets all the food she wants. We’d be worried if she got skinny all of a sudden but she’s been like this for a long time. She reminds me of The Simpsons bit where the Mayo clinic doctor was trying to draw blood from Mr. Burns and the needle went completely through his arm, “It’s like poking through merangue.” I wasn’t able to get her on a postal scale but I bet she weighs barely more than 3lb.
Anyway she’s affectionate and more needy now that Sam is gone. When I’m on the couch she’s either laying on my lap or draped over my chest and left shoulder and loves to be scratched and petted. A few weeks ago she was sitting crouched on the arm of the sofa as I was petting her. Something didn’t feel right and then I realized she had actually tucked the knee joint of her right back leg underneath her own ribcage.
AUGH!!!
I realize I’m being completely irrational but it made my fleash crawl. I had to pick her up and rearrange her to keep from being creeped out. She does that now and again and I’ve gotten used to it. It appears to cause her no distress but that is so wrong!
