It might be possible, if they were both “working” during the same time period. There was a lot of “art” I just didn’t “get” during that time.
Jane Austen - I find nothing to like about her heroines. They’re all desperate whiners trying to hang on to their own privileges and have no perspective on the relative lack of privilege of most people in their society. The stories have no interesting or funny things to say about the society. They just take it for granted. The stories are boring.

Add all of Fitzgerald (that I’ve read anyway). He was the John Hughes of the 1920s.
I also nominate Curb Your Enthusiasm. What in the name of all that’s holy is so gut-bustingly hilarious about a tactless dweeb who keeps pissing off the same kinds of people in the same kinds of ways every week?
I’m not sure if this counts, as, while anime is certainly a sacred cow, I don’t agree on the over-emoting except for Dragonball Z, which is NOT a sacred cow (except for pubescent gam3r fr33ks.) While I’ve only seen a couple dozen episodes (well, less than 100) of anime, it’s not all as over the top as DBZ.
Anecdote. I was at a park playing a live action role-playing game. An NPC walked onto the field wearing shoulder padding reminiscent of GWAR, and another walked on similarly dressed from a different direction. They proceeded to YELL deprecations at each other proclaiming their missions.
Then they wailed at each other with weapons and spells. In this LARP, when you hit someone you announced the damage you were doing: entry and mid-characters did about 2-10 damage. They were yelling things like “Sword 1500!” “Flame 2000!”
Afterward, everyone had come to the conclusion that the over the top action and acting reminded them of Dragonball Z. Not just any anime, that in particular.
