Was there slavery in Canada? If so, how prevalent was it and how and when did it come to an end? Is there a request for reparations in Canada?

I believe that there was some slavery in the 18th century, but if so, it was not very prevalent.

Slavery was abolished throughout the British Empire by an Act of the Imperial Parliament in the 1830s.

I think what slaves there were, were native rather than black. I’ll look for a cite for that.

I’ve never heard of any reparations issues here.
