Mmmmm… I love sleeping! I can never get enough. Especially on Saturdays. I have to get up at 5:30 a.m. on Saturdays, so I usually come home and take a short nap after my run. One problem, though. Does anyone else get nauseated after sleeping too long? I get all groggy and gross feeling if I sleep more than 45 minutes in the middle of the day. Yuck.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ…
I’ve got you all beat: I regularly fall asleep and then dream that I’m sleeping. Imagine waking up and then realizing that you’re still asleep and only dreamed you woke up, hah!
Seriously, though… people are finally beginning to realize that sleep is not some sybaritic luxury that a virtuous person can live without. It’s vital to our mental and physical health.
You know that list doctors use that has all the habits you need to to have for healthy living (googled but couldn’t find it… don’t smoke, buckle up, drink moderately, use smoke detectors etc.) I can’t believe it doesn’t include “get enough sleep.” It should.
Back to my nap.
Napping is divine. I can think of few things more pleasurable than dozing off under a big warm blanket in a cool, dark room on a chilly Sunday afternoon while listening to rain hitting the roof.
Yawn
I would just like to note that I have not only slept while standing at attention, I have actually slept while marching and playing a trombone.
I’m a night-owl forced to cope with a daytime schedule, so I often wind up not getting as much sleep as I like. For years, I got by on under 4 hours a night. As I age, that amount is creeping up–I now feel lousy if I don’t get at least 5 hours.
<waits for shrieks of horror to die down>
On the plus side, that means that on the rare occasions when I get 7 or 8 hours, it’s a windfall, a feast, a veritable wealth of sleep.
Personal record: 18 hours straight, sprawled on the floor of my bedroom. I had been up for about 72 hours, finishing design projects and taking exams, and I didn’t even reach my bed. I got through the bedroom door, and my poor, befuddled brain said, “This, sleep place is. Sleep now.” <thud>
For me, I love sleep. When I was a teenager I could average 12 hours a night in the summer without even trying hard. I’m 30 now, and as much as I want to sleep, I can’t always do it anymore. I also require silence and a cool room which isn’t always available.
I enjoy sleeping so much that I dream about taking naps!
It’s a good thing this thread is about actual snoozing. I was afraid Eve had turned into an evil hypnotist again.
In the past month, there have been two weeks where I missed Saturday. As in, I went to bed around 3:00 Saturday morning and woke at 6 a.m. Sunday. It’s not as refreshing as one might think.

In Russia, sleeping pills dream you!

Ahh, sleep. I rarely get as much as i like and I’m constantly tired, last night i couldn’t sleep because there were too many aeroplanes flying around. Last time i tried sleeping pills my body went to sleep but i was wide awake. I won’t be trying that again, i couldn’t sit myself up or get up to get a drink but i wasn’t at all drowsy.
Has Night of the Living Consecutive Threads been done yet?
This thread is making me real sleepy… I think I´ll lie down for a while.
Sleeping is just about the best thing ever invented - and I just love dreaming. No movie´s ever gonna beat what goes on in my head while I´m asleep…
To bed, to bed, said sleepyhead…
