I would have to say that just about anyone in the non-performing side of the music business are highly likely to be slimy. That’s been my experience, anyway.
Ooh! While we’re bitching about quick lube places – the fact that many of them, particularly Jiffy Lube, push Slick 50 and other teflon-based engine additives. These things do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING other than reduce the life of your engine. DuPont even tried to force them to stop marketing their product as an engine additive!
I just heard another one, on the radio.
A pseudo-official sounding “announcement” about whether you “qualify” for this new cool laser procedure for hair restoral. To qualify you must be thinning or balding. No shit. You “may” qualify even if you’re already being treated by someone else. Oh, and you must call now, before all the openings are filled.
I guess you’ve got to hear it to appreciate it, but it is slimy.
Ask for the manager and give him an earfull. If he isnt congenial ask for his boss. If he is the top dog take your business elsewhere pronto.
Otherwise you will continue to have ‘bank’ problems.
“Beware of the Cog”
Yeah, from my experience I would be trading one set of arrogant assholes for another.
I would have to say self defense instructors…
You mean martial arts, kung foo and the like?
Yeah… might want to check my profile though
Aha!
I don’t know any instructors. Except my cousin, who taught in the Marines. He got injured (minor) a few times teaching.
Weird.

Yes, I guess thats right, it was just the guys **“Bwah hahahahahahha!!” ** maniacal laughing at the though that they might LIVE that grossed me out…
Lots of good suggestions, but I have to agree that Amway (now known as Qixtar) and it’s distributors are the worst because EVERY SINGLE ONE of them lie to get you to join and start spending your money. They will say anything to get you to join. They lie, and use pressure tactics. This is because you can’t make money using their business plan. You make money by getting more people to join and start buying product. A classic pyramid scheme if you ask me.
In no particular order of sliminess:
Payday loan folks.
Auto glass industry (not the “big” outfits).
Wrecker drivers.
Cell phone providers (most plans make me laugh, remember people it’s just a phone).
Used car salesman.

I’d like to nominate the fine people at Fax.com. You can get an overview of their business at http://www.junkfax.org/fax/profiles/faxcom.htm. There is also a link to a deposition of the CEO, Kevin Katz, at http://www.junkfax.org/fax/reference/other_cases/katzdepo.txt. The deposition transcript is long but really interesting, particularly to see how hard the CEO tries to avoid answering any question. Here are some highlights from the Junkfax.org webpage.
[ul]Kevin doesn’t remember where fax.com is located (His attorney said it is 600 Anton, 11th floor, Costa Mesa, CA 92626)[/ul][ul]Kevin doesn’t know whether he is the CEO of fax.com or not[/ul][ul]Eric Wilson and Kevin Katz are the sole shareholders of fax.com [/ul][ul]He has no documents showing the ownership or management of fax.com (nor does he know anyone who has these documents) [/ul][ul]David Felsenthal has been fax.com’s attorney for the past 5 years [/ul][ul]Fax broadcasting is “sending a fax”. [/ul][ul]Kevin says he isn’t involved in any other company involved in fax broadcasting [/ul][ul]Kevin claims he knows nothing about Impact Marketing Solutions or Lighthouse Marketing or Data Research Systems or Tech Access Systems or Soho Marketing, etc. (see the deposition for the entire list) [/ul][ul]He’s not sure if he’s sent out faxes using fax machines [/ul][ul]He’s not sure who owns the faxcasters [/ul][ul]He says Charles Martin doesn’t work there anymore and there is no one in the compliance department [/ul][ul]He doesn’t remember when he was last at the new location of fax.com even though he later said it was a week ago [/ul]
Girls Gone Wild?
Not that the videos are sleazy, just that they can take pictures of drunk, naked girls, make a profit from it, and it’s legal.
(did I say that?:D)
