Slipped him a "mickey"?

I apologize, but I am at work and it is 1:30 A.M. and there is nooooothing to do…

so I watch television and ask questions about it…

What is the origin of “slipped him a mickey”? what is a mickey? is it spelled mickey?

all I can think of is Brendan Small asking his mom about it…and I know that isn’t an origin, as home movies is incredible but young…haha

Wikipedia has this to say about the Mickey Finn.

Note that at the bottom of the page under the External Links is a link to the Straight Dope article.

Sorry you’re bored. Hang in there!

Thanks for the information…
I love the link to an SD article…plus, the seinfeld episode they mention was actually the one that made me think of asking…the worlds a small place, even for SDMB…haha…

It could always be worse…I get out of here at 8…and well, at least I have some tv and internet…I mean, I do get to read sdmb all night…

I edited your thread title, Matthew1, to help make it more descriptive. And then, in rush of ultimate power (I think someone spiked my drink), I moved this over to General Questions, our question-and-answer forum.

“Ultimate power”?

Reeeeeal “ultimate power”?

He is cool; and by cool, I mean totally sweet.

Chuck Norris can beat up Ninjas just by looking at them…

Unca Cecil speaks

Ths column, where he references the first column, contains my favorite Cecil quote: 1890s Chicago saloonkeepers were obviously quite a crew.

Ninjas could beat em.

Thanks for the editing and movement…I am new around here and like knowing that I am protected by ninjas at all times!

blinks If you came here (Canadian prairies) and wanted a mickey, you’d be wanting a small bottle of hard alcohol. I don’t know how many ounces they are, but they are the little ones about the size of a flask that you’d buy at a liquor store - basically the smallest size you can get.

Mickeys aren’t the smallest you can get – those are the 20-30 mL airplane-sized bottles they sell at the cash. A mickey is about 250 mLs, eh? half a fifth? But a mickey finn they ain’t.

I’ve heard of the drink, but I thought it was a cheap beer, not liquor…once, a girl I “knew” loved to get trashed on cheap beer and “hang out” in the “hot tub” and she often bought these short, fat bottles that said Mickey’s on it…

Ah, yes…Mickey’s Fine Malt Liquor.

Bleah!
