My home PC seems to be having persistent problems with multiple wireless peripherals, even when used one at a time. It’s Windows desktop PC, fairly new (~6 months), fairly high-end custom PC (i9-9900K, Z390, GTX 1080).
Basically, no matter which type of wireless mouse I use, the response seems to be very sluggish. The mouses I’ve tried include a Logitech (Unifying receiver), a couple of Bluetooth mouses, and a 3Dconnexion wireless kit (conventional mouse and 3D mouse both paired to the same USB receiver).
At one point I had a Logitech keyboard and mouse both paired with the same Unifying receiver, and that made things much worse. I switched back to a wired keyboard. This led me to think it’s a radio interference problem of some kind, rather than a software/OS issue.
I’ve tried turning off Bluetooth on all other phones and tablets in the same room, and that didn’t help.
I’ve tried disconnecting the XP-Pen pen display and VR headset, and that didn’t help either.
Yes, the obvious next step is to try a wired mouse. While I try to find one to borrow, does anyone have any suggestions on what could be causing these problems?
Thanks for that suggestion, I went and looked through the Device Manager. I did notice that the Thunderbolt port driver wasn’t installed, and fixed that, but that didn’t seem to change anything. Also the USB port & hub works fine for other types of USB devices (hard drives, memory card readers, scanner).
I don’t have much help here, but I have experienced similar slowdowns with mainly logitech wireless mice. These have been more or less expunged by playing around with various driver versions.
What seems to be the problem is W10 trying to “optimise” to the best driver, with or without logitech updated software. I periodically have to force Windows back to the gereric mouse driver for correct operation, Though sometimes simply putting the Unify dongle into a new USB port will do the trick.
I have not been able to find a direct correlation to either W10 or Logitech updates, it just suddenly stops working correctly, sometimes after months of satisfactory use. Logitechs software also “un-customises” itself sporadically.
